What are some garden tasks that you should be doing if it’s too early to plant? February 23, 2021 at 9:10pm EST / 6:10pm PST.
The garden task list:
- Get a soil test if you grow in-ground or in raised beds.
- Put down a layer of compost or mulch if your soil is workable.
- Start seeds for cold weather tolerant fruits and veggies inside if you are in a northern zone.
- Prune shrubs and trees that do not bloom in the spring. Shrubs and trees that bloom in the spring should be pruned after the leaves form or in fall.
- Buy seeds if you do not have all of the seeds you need for the season.
- Plan your garden.
- Check your houseplants. Now is a good time to clean your leaves and up-pot if necessary.
- Grow herbs and pea shoots inside.
- Buy soil and amendments if you grow in containers.
I teach a live Gardening Class on Facebook 2-3 times per week. Follow my page Lilies and Tomatoes for updates when I go live.
